This is the first in an ongoing series of Tuesday posts where I’ll share a single (and easy) tip that will help you increase traffic to your blog. While these tips won’t make a huge difference overnight, they will slowly and overtime grow and increase traffic to your blog.
Comment on other blogs in your niche
One of the simplest and easiest ways to increase traffic to your blog is to comment on other people’s blogs. A really slick feature of blogs is that when you leave a comment, you can also leave your name and the URL of your website. When people read your comment and see the link to your name or website, they’ll often click through to check your blog out. This is particularly true if you leave a “value add” comment.
A “value add” comment is a comment that offers additional value to the article being commented on. For example, let’s say that I come across a performance tips article on Blogging Teacher. I read the article and realize that there is a tip I often use to increase the performance of my blogs that wasn’t listed. This is the perfect opportunity to share my tip. Doing so will add value to the article and increase my authority on the topic. Comments like these will get read, noticed and hopefully lead to click throughs to your blog. Comments like these also have the benefit of getting the attention of the blogger, hopefully yielding to some links which will result in traffic as well.
Spend time everyday adding comments
As part of my blogging routine, I generally allocate a certain about of time per day to read articles from other bloggers in my niche and to add comments to articles where I can add value. Not only does this help build links and traffic to my blogs, but frankly I enjoy doing it. I like reading articles from other bloggers.
