Last month I shared with you that I would begin posting my monthly side income. As I said, sharing my income out in public like this is a bit out of my comfort zone, but I do so in hopes to encourage you and show you what you can really earn through internet work on the side. I’m also posting these numbers to encourage me to make them grow too.
eBay Partner Network (Niche Stores) – $819.64
Adsense – $185.30
Affiliates – $217.19
Consulting/Hosting (Empty Cabin Media) – $522.50
Total June Income: $1744.63
Freshbooks (used for invoicing for my consulting work) – $24.48
MyDomains.com (domain renewals and new domains) – $67.10
Hosting – $82.00
Total Expenses: $173.58
Net Income: (Income – Expenses): $1571.04
While not the biggest income month I’ve had, it certainly was the biggest income month for my niche stores and blogs. Most of my side income in the past has come from my Empty Cabin Media work. I’ve intentionally slowed that work down a bit to focus on my niche stores and blogs. Empty Cabin Media is active income, meaning I trade an hour of my time for money. Niche sites and blogs are more passive income, meaning even when I’m not directly working on the sites, I’m earning money (money as you sleep as they say). Passive income is really where I want to be.
I’m all about income diversity and realized a few months ago that my income was too heavily skewed towards my Empty Cabin Media work. As a result I started a few new niche sites, a new blog, and began focusing a lot more time here on Side Income Blogging.
One concern I do have, again related to income diversity is that a large portion of my monthly side income comes from the eBay Partner network. This income is generated through niche stores I’ve built that feature eBay products for sale. These sites look like online stores, but the merchandise is from eBay and when the visitor clicks through to purchase an item, they end up on eBay. eBay pays me a % of each sale and bonuses if I exceed certain numbers. One of my eBay stores in particular has been very successful and generates most of my eBay and Adsense income. I’ll be sharing more about these niche sites down the road and even walking you step by step through how to build one.
Overall a great month for my side businesses and the extra $1500.00 in addition to my full-time income really helps. I still have lots of work to do, including:
- Writing and selling a few eBook ideas I have
- Increasing my traffic and income here on Side Income Blogging
- Getting more traffic to my other eBay based niche stores
- Writing more on the other two blogs I’ve created (sorry, not sharing these just yet, but maybe down the road).
If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments. Certainly willing to answer anything I can.
